Wood Family Farm
The Wood family has farmed this land since 1939. Granddaddy Wood was a tobacco farmer who raised a few head of cattle for the family. Throughout the years, many crops have been harvested and many hogs and cattle have been raised on this land.
When grandson Michael moved here in 2008, he decided to restore the land back to a sustainable farm dedicated to raising chickens and cows. He has worked at planting grasses and hay for year-round grazing. Oats and Rye are sown in Fall for winter grazing. Fescue and Bermuda grasses are planted for the summer months.
Wood Family Farm is a small farm dedicated to raising animals as they should be raised -- humanely, allowing them to roam and graze in open fields. We are members of the Clayton Farmers Market in Clayton, NC Johnston County, and sell meat and free ranged, cage free eggs. You can also pick up at the farm.
